I had an ultrasound today

This was an early genetic assessment. The smart people of the world figured out that you can measure the thickness of the skin at the back of the neck of an 11-13 week fetus and determine the chances of the baby having Downs, Spina Bifida, and a whole host of other problems. Its not completely accurate, but I'll take 87% and run with it.

My current passenger was holding to form as his older brother and sisters. In other words he did not cooperate at all. (I'm just using the pronoun he. I don't know. Its too early. As soon as I find out, I'll let everyone know.) Wouldn't hold still, kept tucking his hands under his chin so it couldn't be clearly seen, kept looking directly at the probe, kept showing off his butt, sucking his thumb, waving...etc, etc. It took a half an hour before the sonographer caught a picture that the perinatalogist was happy with.

So the results come in an adjusted mother age form. A friend of mine had one of these with her last baby and the results showed that the chances of the baby having problems was the same as a 41 year old woman. She was 35. So she had an amnio to follow up. My results came back as a 20 year old. I'm skipping the amnio. That's good enough for me.

Thank you! I really didn't want to deal with a needle through my belly.

Oh yes, just one little behind on the screen. I am so relieved!

Yay for new baby Aelfie! I would be peering at the screen to make sure there weren't 2 or 3 more fetuses showing up. I think I have Twin PSTD, though. ;-)

Oh you had better believe I had them confirm there was only one! One is such a lovely number! =)
