Hrmmm

Since someone mentioned it earlier in their own blog...

I want to get Ike into Scouting of some sort. But I do NOT want him in Boy Scouts of America. I don't support organizations that discriminate. Girl Scouts won't let him in. (An organization that is smart enough not to discriminate based on Sexual Identity/Orientation. Considering that most of the higher ups I ever met were Family, it would be quite stupid of them to adopt such policies.), so....what else is there? I'm only familiar with BSA and GSA. Are there other scouting type organizations out there in the world?

TIA

*sigh* Sorry to have raised a ruckus.

You didn't raise a ruckus...it got me thinking about scouting options. I've said for years that I wouldn't let Ike join BSA until they welcomed his Auntie Allan and Uncle Wandy...and that's exactly how I'll explain it to him.

Oh! How about Campfire and/or 4-H?

A list of potential resources can be found at the bottom of this page:

I thought about Campfire...nearest Org is in Oakland...not sure if they have anything down here.

4-H OTOH is active locally. But its not really scouting...its mostly animal husbandry around here...I'll look into it more closely.

I'll look at that site and see what I can find.

Circle scouts? They have a more pagany bent if you're into that. There is another group called scouting for all I think that is very good. I think the cut off is 5 or 6 years old. Good Luck. We will probably do BSA only because not all groups support the official agenda. In fact many have outwardly criticized their parent org and said they will NOT discriminate. Both my partners were BS, is an Eagle scout so they feel strongly about it.

I have read the website of Earth Scouts, but don't have any first-hand information.
