Stange places for needles
May. 22nd, 2005 04:07 pmSo I've had 3 acupuncture treatments with the Stanford study. I'm very lucky the needle poker is just across the street from Santa Teresa Hospital so its less than a 5 minute drive to get there. So I knew that I was going to get needles stuck in different places on my body, but wow some of them are really, REALLY weird.
For example:
The first two times I went in, I got two needles right in the eyebrow, really close together, like where you glasses would sit. And if that wasn't bad enough, she crossed 'em so I felt like I had these two antennae sticking out of my face.
Yesterday I got one in the fleshy part between my pinkie and my ring finger on my left hand. And it hurt too. Even worse it itched for the entire 20 minute session until she took it out.
And the big winner. One right in the middle of my chin.
This is all very strange to me, but I am very happy to report that I think its working. In the last few days I've had a bit more energy than usual (I've actually gotten some housework done! I'll admit its hard to tell, but Joe noticed!) and my craving for sweet stuff has diminished a bit. (For example, the box of Oreos actually lasted in the house for 4 days before they disappeared. Normally they would of been gone in less than 24 hours.) And I've actually wanted to *play* with Ike. Very cool! But I've also discovered that my emotional state is still pretty fragile. A friend made a well meaning comment about Ike's behavior recently and it sent me into a spiral of tears and guilt over being a rotten mother.
Oh well. One step at a time.
