I've decided to try and do regular updates. I work on a rotation, sometimes I work on something for 2 weeks, sometimes a month if I'm really enjoying it and its not bugging me. These are pretty rumpled as I work in hand, and I just ball up the fabric when I'm done and shove it into the project bag. So here's a couple of Works In Progress

Fleur des Anges as of May 30

I've been working on this for the last 2 weeks and I'm sick of looking at it, so back to the rotation! This is stitched on 32 ct linen with Gloriana's Lucky Old Sun and Soie Cristale #6002, which are not the recommended fibers. Here's a close up:

Squirrel Gathering Table Topper by Dutch Treat Designs using the recommended fibers. If I remember correctly this was a kit I bought. This picture is as of May 15

So Thursday night it was Open House at Ike's school. Joe and I met with the teacher, Miss Sue and Miss Inge (the speech pathologist). We were one of the few families to come from the pre-school program. So we got to have a nice long conversation with them about Ike.

It was really eye opening and odd for me to have someone sing Ike's praises and describe behaviors and characteristics I rarely see. Among the things she said:

-Ike's a natural leader
-Ike has the best vocabulary in his class (including the latest swear words)
-Ike is a great role model
-Ike is very smart (we knew that one)
-Ike loves books and gets upset when they are damaged.(this is new. this kid regularly throws books at the closed door in time out)
-Ike is hard to get to focus, but once there he does very well at any given task.
And the one that really got me.
-Ike is her most challenging student, but also her most satisfying.

She encouraged us to enroll Ike, not in preschool this summer, but in classes. Art classes, sports, manners (yes, manners. She had photocopies of the Parks and Rec classes for the nearest community center and they have an age appropriate class), dancing, day camps, etc, etc. We will see. For most of these classes a state completely potty trained is a requirement. He's almost there. Poor guy is trying so hard.

But what lovely things to hear!

The Everything Test

There are many different types of tests on the internet today. Personality tests, purity tests, stereotype tests, political tests. But now, there is one test to rule them all.

Traditionally, online tests would ask certain questions about your musical tastes or clothing for a stereotype, your experiences for a purity test, or deep questions for a personality test. We're turning that upside down - all the questions affect all the results, and we've got some innovative results too! Enjoy :-)

Personality
You are more emotional than logical, more concerned about self than concerned about others, more atheist than religious, more loner than dependent, more workaholic than lazy, more traditional than rebel, more engineering mind than artistic mind, more cynical than idealist, more follower than leader, and more introverted than extroverted.

As for specific personality traits, you are intellectual (85%), romantic (71%), horny (64%).

Stereotypes
Emo Kid89%
Punk Rock87%
Prep77%

Life Experience
Sex60%
Substances8%
Travel26%

Politics
Your political views would best be described as Liberal, whom you agree with around 68% of the time.
  Socioeconomic
Your attitude toward life best associates you with Upper Class. You make more than 21% of those who have taken this test, and 100% less than the U.S. average.

If your life was a movie, it would be rated PG-13.
By the way, your hottness rank is 50%, hotter than 17% of other test takers.

So I was reading this month's edition of Oprah's magazine when I get to a article blurb that describes gaslighting, and how to deal with someone who is doing it to the reader.  According to wikipedia, "Gaslighting is a form of psychological abuse. It uses persistent denials of fact which, as they build up over time, make the victim progressively anxious, confused, and unable to trust his or her own memory and perception." Which is a pretty good sumation of my last serious relationship.

Personally, I just call it abuse. It doesn't make it any nicer to deal with , but its interesting to know there's a specific name for it.
