29. Nativity Stories by Alan Howard
So somebody mentioned in one of the Waldorf groups that a Waldorf teacher named Alan Howard wrote a short collection of Christmas/Advent/Nativity Stories. SJSU had a copy so I requested it. Very short. Very sweet. The stories are written to be told to children, not read to children. The stories are about the stable, the manger, the donkey and a couple of other important pieces to the story of Christs birth. Wonderful stuff. I'd love a copy. I'll be adding them to my advent planning for next year.
30. No Roses for Harry by Gene Zion
I managed to keep a decent collection of my favorite picture books from my childhood. The kids pulled this one out of the library and asked that I read it. For some reason Harry doesn't like the sweater with roses that Grandma knitted him. After many attempts he finally manages to lose it.
The TV fairy finally came for a visit to our house. The TV is on from 7-8 in the morning and then from 4-5 in the afternoon. I've been taking time to read more stories through the day. So I'm expecting we will be adding to this type of post for awhile. Tonight we started a collection of Dragon Fairy Tales I picked up from the used book store. We'll see how long it takes us to get through it.
My big score at Recycle Books today was an 84 year old copy of Beloved Belinda by Johnny Gruelle. Its one of the many Raggedy Ann stories. There is no entry for this book even at bookfinder.com. I can see why. Belinda is a Mammy doll. She looks like a fat Aunt Jemima via Raggedy Ann. Its adorable. And the story is cute too.
