The main complainers were from parents who were very active in outdoor activities with the family and are from out of the country. Where the school year and school days are MUCH longer than they are here. They disliked the fact that a whole 20% of the school week was wasted on "activities that the parents should provide on the weekends"
My (silent, disrespectful) response to that was "Dude. This is America. Home of the fat-ass and the couch potato. If parents were really doing active, outdoor activities with their kids, do you think this would be a problem?" and "Ummm...this is Waldorf dummy! Its not supposed to be very rigorous academically for another couple of years, let them play outside!"
