So, the in-laws want our next Disney vacation in Florida. Fair enough...I've never been. It will be a couple of years because 1. I hate flying with little people, 2. its going to take awhile to save our pennies.

Anyway, I was poking around the WDW vacation website, plugging in dates, numbers of people, etc, etc.

Ouch.

To stay at the top of the line Suites with Kitchens $1500 per person (plus airfare for us)
To stay at the bottom of the line (Tents!) $460 per person (plus air)
To stay in the cabins in the camping area (a/c, tv, full kitchen, sleeps 6) $979 per person (plus air)*
To stay in the cheap hotel, (no kitchen) $733 per person (plus air)

It might take me a bit longer to save my pennies than I originally thought.

I really want that kitchen...even if we are just making breakfast and lunches...it should save us tons on food.

Ouch.

* Now these prices reflect, 10 day off season stay, 10 day park hopper passes (includes water parks), no air, no car.

See if Magic Kingdom Club members still get a discount on hotel packages. There are also a number of Disney fan sites that publish discount information.

AAA/CSAA is another good source for Disney packages.

CSAA is good for a 10% discount...I wasn't including that in the calculations. As is MKC...unfortunately you can't stack the discounts...damn!

Its still a lot of money...we figure $7-8K...and I think I'd rather spend that kind of money on a trip to Europe rather than Florida.

Wow, $1500 per person in order to save money on food? Scary. I hope it saves you a thousand bucks a head on food.

Its closer to $1250 in total. With 3 kids...you can easily go through that much money (Hell, MORE!) in 10 days. Its NOT cheap to eat at disney...also...its bigger, more space.

The smaller, cheaper is a small hotel room, the cabin is 1 bedroom, full kitchen, full living room. After our experience last fall...the room is necessary.

Ahhhh, I musta misunderstood. I was thinking that the higher end thing had better be VERY POSH for $1500 per head!

Ah...yes. We are talking cross-purposes.

It should be posh for that amount...too bad I'll never find out! That quote was for the Saratoga Springs Resort. I'm not willing to pay that much for a 2 bedroom suite. I don't think so.

I'm leaning more towards the cabins which is at $900 something per person. Still a lot of damn money...I think I'd rather stay at the Grand Californian at Disneyland for more than half the price of the Saratoga. I don't need to see WDW that badly.
