So I decided to take the kids to Happy Hollow Zoo this morning before Ike has to go to school. Its a really small zoo and has lots of little play areas to keep them amused. We did pretty well (i.e. minimum of fights, sticking together, etc) until it was close to being the time to go. While at the play area behind the puppet theatre both girls decided to take off running in opposite directions. By the time I gathered the two of them and got back to the playarea...Ike was gone. I looked around, I called out for him, dragged the crying little girls around a bit...couldn't find him.

Shit.

Went and found an employee told them I lost my kid, they put out an APB for him and found him in about 10 minutes. I gave him the evil eye the entire time as he was walked over to me. When he got to me, he gave me a big hug and I told him that he really, really scared me and that he shouldn't do that again.

We left the zoo right after that. And I took him to school.

Oy. What a day.

On a good note I pick up my first food basket from out CSA today. YEA!

You need to chip those kids. You can do it with cats and dogs, so why not children?

Or get one of those "invisible fence" gadgets, and carry the central unit on you. Then if the munchkins get too far away from you -- zap! That'd learn 'em :)

I think its a pretty good idea...Joe opposes the violation of privacy that would occur if we chipped the kids. Oh well.

I like the zap line thing...that might work for my kids.

You need to chip those kids.

Please never say this to my face. I might not calm down and realize you were joking before I did something rude, like rip out your steaming entrails with my bare hands. I mean, I'd regret it afterward, of course, but heat of the moment.

I believe that the state of California either passed or was considering a law forbidding employers from chipping their employees. The fact that this is necessary saddens me very much.

Have you considered a harness? Apparently that's what those leashes are called.

We were over at the Doans' house for their girl's birthday (you might remember them from the wedding-Ike and Tyler were playing together) and Linsy asked me if I had gotten a harness for Mel.

By the look on her face, I think "A what? Oh! You mean a LEASH??" was the wrong thing to say...

Hey, I'm gonna lurk around your journal for a little & see if you'd hate me if I add you as a friend. I'm curious about the twin plus one lifestyle. :)
