One of the Artists in Residence has attacked my walls again.

A couple of weeks ago (day before her birthday no less) she attacked the walls with red crayon. Started at the front door and ran down the hallway. I made her clean it up (BTW WD-40 works great! You may have to scrub with a soapy sponge afterwards 'cause its oil based). You'd think that would be the end of it.

But this is my child we are speaking of. Feh.

This afternoon, same child, takes a pencil to the walls. I hate pencil. That stuff is next to impossible to clean from walls. Even if you manage to erase (yes, erase) the marks, there's an impression left.

I think I'm going to buy shares in Benjamin Moore.

Did you try a Magic Eraser?

Works great, except for the fact that it also takes the paint off the walls as well. Totally wrecked my living room wall.

Could be worse. When I was a kid I apparently decorated the walls with the contents of my dirty diapers.

My son used to do that...he quit after I made him clean it up a few times. =)

Stock in Benjamin Moore, and steer one kid into applied (household) sciences - whichever one has created the most interesting issues, of course.

You probably know this, but if they like to "mark" their territories, don't feed 'em beets.

Hrm...I'll keep that in mind.

There's blackboard paint if she needs a large area to express herself, and no one's allergic to chalk. I wish there was a white version.

I have dust allergies. I brought up the idea of blackboard paint to the painter last summer and she brought up the problem with dust.

Not that it has stopped them from drawing on the walls with chalk, mind you.
