Insomnia

I just love not being able to sleep.

So what happened today?

Got up at 8, left house at 9:15 to run to costco. Big line to get into the door, more than usual on a saturday morning. Gee, I wonder why? The costco down here has electric scooters for customers to use. I had a great time scooting around the store pointing at things for my mom to put into the big cart. It was the first time in a long time I've enjoyed shopping. Not only did I not have Ike (Joe took him away for the entire day) I was doubling over in pain after 15 minutes of walking around a store. I now have a full freezer, a full pantry, and a full food overflow. I am now ready for Elli and Gwen's appearance food wise.

Mom shoved all the stuff in the back of the van, then we went to the Original Pancake House for brunch. I had half of a lovely fresh fruit stuffed crepe. I'm having a hard time reconciling my hunger size with the size of my stomach. I get full waaaaay before I eat enough food (i.e. I'm stuffed, but I'm still hungry). Very frustrating. However, I'm losing weight. Bonus!

Ran home unloaded the van and parked myself on the couch with Harry. As of now I'm about 500 pages in. Its not bad, its not the best one of the series. I'll wait and see how I feel after I finish.

Took a nap. Lovely.

With mom's help we cleaned up Ike's room. 95% of the mess in there was mine, not Ike's. I've been receiving so many handmedowns I had piles of girly clothes all over his room. We got everything sorted, put into either totes for storage (I have clothes for Ike and the girls up to size 4T), or into the dresser. Which we managed to re-arrange as well. I re-discovered a baby quilt I had purchased several years ago as an inspiration piece and I'm going to go out tommorrow and buy clips to hang it on the wall for decoration. I don't paint, and I can't draw, my kids will never have the cutely decorated rooms that appear in magazines. Oh well, I figure as long as everything is clean and doesn't smell, I'm doing a good job. The crib is now also empty so its ready to hold screaming newborns as I rush to use the bathroom.

Went downstairs for a bit to rehydrate and read more Harry.

Went out to dinner at Armadillo Willy's. Another of my mom's favorite restaurants. I was a little apprehensive about eating BBQ 'cause of the GERD, but so far no problems! Yea for me!

Went shopping at Target. Got the rest of the stuff I missed at Costco. Also managed to snag a widescreen copy of "Too Wong Foo..." for 7 bucks. Yea! I love seeing Westly Snipes mincing. Don't ask why. Tifi pointed it out years ago when we saw it in the theatre and it still amuses the hell out of me today.

Got home at 9:15 to an empty house, but with Joe's car in its spot and Ike's door closed. Ike's in bed early. Yea for us!

That didn't last. 10 minutes later Ike brought Joe downstairs. Ike caught sight of me and burst into tears. Spent the next few minutes comforting little boy. And getting deservedly reamed out by grumpy husband. I had forgotten to leave a note or call him and let him know we were going back out shopping. And of course I didn't have my phone on either. He was worried. I don't blame him.

Found out he was starving to death. What a shock! He spent the day with Ike at AM's house. That woman does not know how to properly entertain guests. It is not uncommon to go over there for dinner and leave extremely hungry. She consistently underestimates the amount of food needed to feed her guests and frequently forgets to provide anything to eat for a meal besides the meat and dessert (generally BBQ'd steak and frozen apple pie). And without asking guests to bring along more food to round out the meal. Its one of the MANY reasons why I don't like going over there. Which is also why I was more than happy to wave bye at Joe when he said he was going to spend the day over there and take Ike with him.

So now I'm sitting here, killing time hoping to get sleepy. Whee!

WRONG! Sweetie, this is why your children have not one, but two funny uncles. Interior Decorating? Arty, cutesey stuff like that is what gay men live for.

I thought he had a funny aunt and uncle. =)

What? You paint walls? Hrmmm...we will have to discuss the kids room then. It needs some help.

No, we decorate rooms. Big difference. But we could both be convinced to come over for an evening of "what can we do to the kids' room?". And we could help organize a redecorate-the-kids-room party. (And use my employee discount at a certain chain of paint stores.)

It's also known as "faux granite" or "faux stone" painting.

Ahhh. I'll have to find an example somewhere online.

As reasonably tasteful gay men, we both reserve the right to refuse to sponge-paint or spackle-paint anything.

And no Hello Kitty or Barney anywhere.

I mean it.

Like that will ever happen. That purple dinosaur isn't allowed anywhere! and Hello Kitty is so '70's

What the hell is spackle paint?

That ... was the RIGHT answer.

I thought spackle was something you used to close up plumbers butt. I didn't realize it was a painting technique

You're gonna let Allan consult on the kid's room?

I'm scared.

How much harm could he do? =)

Simulated microchip wallpaper - Cat5 mobiles with AOL CDs strung - Bookshelves out of old desktops and rack servers -
Lights that automatically turn on with noise and off with silence - Ipod with customized Microsoft/Novell children's songs.

The mind truly boggles. Then again, you're not likely to provide free rein and let him just surprise you. Thank goodness.

You know, that actually sounds cute. It would truly be a GIT's room.

I love the sound of people in pain. =)

Okay, but not this kind of pain!
